Your AI agents can now control your Google Home devices

Google has launched early access to its Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for the Google Home ecosystem, enabling AI agents such as Claude, Hermes, OpenClaw, ChatGPT, and Google Antigravity to interact with smart home devices and access event history. Users must create a Google Cloud project, configure Home MCP, and provide the configuration to their chosen agent, which will then guide them through sign‑in and permission granting. The feature is initially available to subscribers of the Google Home Premium Advanced tier ($20/month) in the U.S., with broader rollout details pending. Google is gathering feedback from early adopters via its Smart Home for Developers Community.
